House of Delegates Member · Legislative District 33A · Maryland · 2026 Primary
Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.
View all candidates in this raceDelegate Andrew Pruski has served on the Anne Arundel County Council since 2014 and now represents District 33A in the Maryland House of Delegates. He earned a Bachelor's of History and Master's in Education at Niagara University, taught social studies at Frederick Douglass High School, and served as building representative for the Maryland State Teachers Association where he led efforts to fight for increased education funding. An Eagle Scout who lives with his wife Roxanne and three children Jacob, Clara, and Walter in Gambrills, Pruski believes elected officials are meant to serve, not be served. He has been named 2021 Government Advocate of the Year by the Central Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Citizen of the Year from the Greater Crofton Council. His priorities include improving schools, investing in infrastructure and public safety, lowering prescription and medical costs, protecting veterans, keeping illegal guns off streets, supporting women's reproductive rights, and promoting environmental sustainability.

As a member of the county council I have been committed to strengthening our schools, improving public safety, supporting infrastructure that impacts our quality of life, strengthening our local economy, and safeguarding our environment. I work for you and that has guided how I have approached my job as a councilman.
Constituent services have always been my top priority. People deserve a representative that stands at their side.
As councilman, Andrew led the charge on a host of issues important to Anne Arundel County including: higher salaries for our teachers and capital improvements for our schools, providing resources for public safety, supporting property tax credits for veterans, and bringing needed sidewalk, road, and park improvements to our community.

Education
Pruski worked to increase teacher compensation, secure capital budget funding for school facilities including the new West County Elementary School and Arundel Middle School expansion, support career technical education, and advocate to address school overcrowding.

Public Safety
He supported a countywide body camera program, passed legislation to increase security at gun stores, secured funding for Crownsville Fire Station in Herald Harbor, increased mental health services, and will support adequate resources for public safety personnel with increased training and accountability.

Environment
Pruski supports increased recycling including organic recycling, supported the Forest Conservation Act in 2019 which protected natural resources and reduced sprawl development, and increased fines for illegally cutting down trees.

Economy
He strategically utilized grants and support programs to help citizens and businesses recover from COVID-19, worked tirelessly to support local businesses, and has been involved in efforts to lower costs for consumers and curb predatory business practices.

Veterans
Pruski supports property tax credits for veterans and has backed measures to expand services and support for veterans.

Delegate Andrew Pruski was re-elected as Chair of the Anne Arundel County House Delegation following a unanimous vote by colleagues ahead of the 2026 Maryland General Assembly session. As Chair during the most recent General Assembly session, he helped guide key initiatives including establishing the Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park Advisory Committee, increasing scholarship for the county student member of the Board of Education, and launching a pilot program to improve aquifer management in Anne Arundel County. He has also sponsored and supported legislation aimed at protecting consumers, supporting veterans, improving conditions for public safety personnel, lowering costs for consumers, and curbing predatory business practices.
