Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. Born and raised in Ohio, he became interested in politics early while studying at Hiram College and worked on campaigns up and down the ballot before moving to Bel Air in 2022. He currently works as an Account Manager at Rice Consulting in downtown Bel Air and previously served in the Senate President's office during the 2023 legislative session. Lyon considers himself independent despite coming from a Republican family with Democratic friends, and he has been involved in his parish, community band, and Harford County Democratic Central Committee. He campaigns on accountability, accessibility, affordability, education, development, pragmatism, responsiveness, results for schools and infrastructure, and support for small businesses.
