She served on the Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee from 2014 to 2018 and as secretary of the county's Park and Recreation Advisory Board during the same period. From 2018 to 2022 she served as the elected Board of Education representative for District 6, and she has also previously run for Prince George's County Council. She is considered one of the frontrunners in a highly competitive twelve-person Democratic primary for the open seat, with strong support in the 24th and 25th Legislative Districts stemming from her Board of Education service and prior countywide campaigns. The race is to succeed longtime incumbent Cereta A. Lee, who has held the Register of Wills position since 2006 and is not seeking re-election.
