He was appointed to the Maryland State Senate on February 4th, 2016 and elected in 2018, later becoming Chairman of the Senate Democratic Caucus after serving as Deputy Majority Leader. Outside of legislative work, he serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of a nonprofit supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. His career includes roles at Maryland Home Care where he helped secure wage increases for home healthcare workers, and positions in state government including Deputy District Director to a Congressman and assistant scheduler to a U.S. Senator.

Disabilities Advocacy
Craig has been recognized more than five times with the Outstanding Legislative Leadership Award from the Arc of Maryland for his work championing legislation that provides equity and opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities, including college access for students with disabilities and services for children with Autism.

Craig serves on the powerful Budget and Tax Committee and as chairman of the Capital Budget Subcommittee where he helped deliver billions in additional funding to Montgomery County invested in schools, parks, senior centers, local arts, and cultural landmarks.

Economic Development
Craig led efforts to revitalize Burtonsville Crossing Shopping Center by investing more than $10 million in infrastructure improvements and passed legislation that will provide services to more than 1,200 children with Autism.
