View all candidates in this raceDr. Danita Tolson is a healthcare educator at Coppin State University and former president of the Baltimore County NAACP running for District 2 on the Baltimore County Council. She brings over twenty-five years of experience in healthcare education, a decade of civil rights leadership, and has trained nurses and healthcare professionals who care for families across Maryland since joining Coppin State faculty in 2000. Her background includes earning degrees from East Carolina University, University of Phoenix, and Chamberlain University, with recognition from the University System of Maryland Board of Regents for exemplary public service in health and social justice. Tolson earned a presidential commendation from President Biden for organizing COVID vaccine outreach into overlooked communities and has testified before the Maryland General Assembly on prescription drug affordability, tobacco regulation, and hospital staffing. She is running because she believes District 2 deserves a councilmember who already knows how to deliver on healthcare, public safety, education, and economic investment issues without needing on-the-job training.
