The Prince George’s County Democratic Central Committee selected Darrell Odom Sr. to fill the vacant District 27A House of Delegates seat left by Kevin Harris, who moved to the state Senate. An overwhelming vote of 22 out of 24 committee members supported his nomination, highlighting his 31 years in the Army and Coast Guard as well as his former role as acting fire chief for the county's fire department.
