Members of the Board of Education oversee the local public school system by setting educational policies, approving the annual operating budget, and hiring the superintendent. They make key decisions on matters such as student curriculum, school boundaries, and the maintenance of school facilities. This office is important because its members determine how tax dollars are spent to support student learning and the overall quality of schools in the community.

Bennett High School, Plotts holds a master's degree in Management with a focus on Finance and professionally serves as the Vice President of Finance and Administration at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore. He is a father of four children attending local public schools and is deeply involved in community service through the Rotary Club of Salisbury and the Appalachia Service Project. On the Board of Education, he serves on the Audit Committee and the School Health Council, as well as the Maryland Association of Boards of Education’s Budget Committee. He advocates for student-centered leadership, focusing on academic innovation, transparency, and fiscal responsibility.
