Board of Education Member · Frederick County · 2026 Primary
Members of the Board of Education oversee the local public school system by setting educational policies, approving the annual operating budget, and hiring the superintendent. They make key decisions on matters such as student curriculum, school boundaries, and the maintenance of school facilities. This office is important because its members determine how tax dollars are spent to support student learning and the overall quality of schools in the community.
View all candidates in this raceDean Rose is a native of West Virginia who lives in Frederick with his wife Robin and their Miniature Goldendoodle Bo. He graduated from Marshall University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1984 and began his career at State Farm Insurance Companies 40 years ago, eventually becoming a State Farm Agent located in Middletown after moving to Frederick in 1998. Rose has served on the Board of Education since December 2022, serving as Board Vice President in 2023 and 2025, and was elected Board President for 2026. He has extensive volunteer experience with organizations including Make-a-Wish Foundation, Heartly House, Alzheimer's Association, Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County, and currently serves on the Board of The Literacy Council of Frederick County.
