View all candidates in this raceEd Crizer is a Democratic candidate running for Baltimore County Council District 9 in 2026. Born and raised in Edgemere, with parents who were both born and raised in Dundalk, he has lived in the district his whole life. He comes from a family of small business owners with a union background, and first got into politics when his father ran for delegate in 2014. Crizer himself ran unsuccessfully in the 2014 Democratic primary for the Maryland House of Delegates. He has since been active in local Democratic politics, and is simultaneously running for the Baltimore County Democratic Central Committee alongside his council bid. His campaign centers on the affordability crisis facing working-class and lower-income residents in the district, including rising housing, utility, food, and healthcare costs. He supports property tax relief for first-time homebuyers, increased investment in schools and parks, stronger union membership, and finding solutions to traffic problems stemming from the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. District 9 covers Dundalk, Rosedale, and the North Point Peninsula, and the seat is open following incumbent Todd Crandell's decision not to seek reelection.
