County Executive · Wicomico County · 2026 Primary
The County Executive serves as the chief administrator of the county, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and enforcing laws passed by the County Council. This official proposes the annual budget that directs how local tax dollars are spent on services such as public schools, roads, and emergency response. The County Executive also has the power to appoint department heads and can sign or veto legislation affecting the entire county.
View all candidates in this raceErnest [Ernie] Davis is a 62-year-old lifelong resident of Wicomico County who has served as a dedicated law enforcement officer, community leader, and public servant for decades. He graduated from James M. Bennett High School in Salisbury, Maryland, attended Wor-Wic Community College and Salisbury University, and was married to his wife for 33 years with four children. Davis is a 20-year Maryland State Police Veteran and has owned local businesses including Mid-Atlantic Power Wash (started 1994) and M.A.T. Delivery Inc. (started 1999). His political career includes serving on the Wicomico Democratic Central Committee as President from 2012 to 2014, being elected to Wicomico County Council District 1 in 2014 with re-election in 2018 where he served as Vice-President from 2021 onward, and currently serving on the Wicomico School Board Building Commission since 2018 and Local Management Board since 2014.
