They set local tax rates and make final decisions on land use and zoning, which determines where new homes and businesses can be built. This office is responsible for prioritizing how your tax dollars are spent and managing the long-term growth and infrastructure of your community.

I grew up in the Cockeysville area and currently live in Middle River. I understand what it is like to scrape by not knowing if you will have enough for groceries.
No matter what I propose, you will be able to measure it tangibly, and determine if I have accomplished it or not with a simple yes or no question.
First Responders are heroes and should be treated as such. I will not let our heroes feel abandoned by the representatives that are part of the communities they help protect.
I do not support ICE or anything their current iteration is trying to accomplish. I believe them to be a failed organization and a textbook example of federal overreach.
No new taxes.

Infrastructure
Road repair and pothole remediation, specifically mentioning Back River Neck Road where residents have gotten flat tires that budget-stretched residents can hardly afford. Also addresses water main breaks and deep pools of water at street ends connected to Compass Road East.
“I will have roads like this fully repaved.”
Fiscal Policy
Opposes tax increases, states he will not pay for plans by increasing taxes and will fight any attempt to raise taxes on District 8 residents. Emphasizes balancing the books as a core approach.
“No new taxes.”
First Responders
Committed to ensuring first responders are not abandoned by representatives, addressing overwork concerns and equipment needs for recruitment and maintenance.
“I will do whatever it takes to make sure recruitment numbers are ideal, existing equipment is maintained, and current equipment deficits are addressed.”
Immigration
Opposes ICE enforcement using county resources for federal law with no clear benefit to District 8 residents. Believes federal government should use federal resources for their own operations.
“I will not let them pass the literal and figurative buck onto the county.”
Public Transportation
Proposes expansions of light rail system to Middle River and Towson. Opposes NIMBY voters shutting down expansions based on property value concerns.
“I would propose expansions of the light rail system to my home in Middle River, as well as kickstarting the proposed Towson expansion.”
The Baltimore Informer reports Carmody launched his political career after hitting a flat tire on Back River Neck Road, describing the incident as transforming from an old joke into a real campaign. The article notes he brings an auditor's eye to District 8, working at McCormick Spice Company specializing in budgeting and inventory while finishing his accounting degree because he believes Baltimore County's finances are broken like its roads. The Baltimore Sun mentions crowded primaries for new council seats but provides no additional specific information about Carmody.
“Roads filled with potholes, critical businesses employing young people being shut down as a result of shortsighted voting by council members, and fire departments that like their city counterparts, are overworked, underequipped and understaffed.”
