The State’s Attorney is the county’s lead prosecutor, responsible for managing the legal office that handles all criminal cases on behalf of the public. This official decides whether to bring formal charges against individuals, oversees criminal trials, and works with law enforcement to address local crime. Dykes was appointed Ad Interim State's Attorney by the Circuit Court for Wicomico County on December 4, 2017, and subsequently elected to serve as State's Attorney in November 2018 and again in November 2022. A lifelong resident of Wicomico County, she graduated cum laude from Parkside High School, Salisbury State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and the University of Baltimore School of Law. Before joining the Office, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Brett W. Wilson of the Circuit Court for Dorchester County. Her mission focuses on ensuring justice is done through vigorous, fair, and professional prosecution while protecting victims' rights and building partnerships with law enforcement and community groups. She emphasizes making Wicomico County safer through preventative programs and upholding ideals of integrity and fairness in serving the public.
