House of Delegates Member · Legislative District 46 · Maryland · 2026 Primary
Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.
View all candidates in this raceJeremy L. Amason is a Moderate Republican running for Maryland House of Delegates District 46 in 2026. He was raised in metro-Baltimore, earned an ROTC Scholarship to attend Indiana University, and served as a U.S. Army Aviation Officer and UH-60 Blackhawk Pilot from 2019 until 2024. After leaving the military, he returned to Baltimore where he now works as a consultant and high school basketball coach while his wife teaches at a Baltimore City Public School in Cherry Hill. Amason chose to run after observing that incumbent Delegates have largely run unopposed for years, arguing that democracy functions better when there is choice and those in power are challenged. He believes current leaders have placed their position, party, and politics above the needs of people. His campaign focuses on pragmatic leadership in Annapolis with an emphasis on improving Baltimore's neighborhoods, schools, affordability, roads, and pedestrian infrastructure.

Baltimore deserves new and pragmatic leadership in Annapolis.

I believe the current Delegate's have chosen to put their position, party, and politics above the needs of the people.

Democracy Reform
Amason argues that the district is gerrymandered to ensure those in power stay in power. He proposes creating three individual districts, establishing an independent federal congressional districting commission, and fighting for term-limits in Maryland House and Senate.
“The 46th District is represented by 3 Delegates. The district is gerrymandered to ensure that those in power stay in power. I will work to create three individual districts, returning the power to each neighborhood and community to choose their own leaders.”
Cost of Living
Amason addresses rising taxes and junk fees affecting Maryland residents. He proposes lowering income taxes and fighting against car registration taxes and gas appliance taxes while making home ownership more attainable for young people.
“Taxes and junk fees are cutting away at our wallets. As your Delegate, I will work to lower income taxes, and fight against junk fees such as car registration taxes and gas appliance taxes.”
Education
As the husband of a Baltimore City teacher, Amason emphasizes empowering teachers with more support staff and social workers. He wants tax dollars spent in classrooms rather than on bloated administration.
“I will work to empower our teachers by bringing in more support staff and social workers so our teachers can focus on teaching.”
Infrastructure
Amason plans to invest in repaving roads, repairing dilapidated infrastructure like the Hanover Street Bridge, improving sidewalks and crosswalks, and making driving, walking, and biking safer across Baltimore.
