Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. A Progressive Democrat and biologist with an advanced degree, she is noted as the only biologist with an advanced degree in the Maryland General Assembly. Her legislative focus includes closing corporate tax loopholes, providing world-class education, protecting social safety nets, and improving road safety for pedestrians and cyclists. She chairs the Revenues Subcommittee and serves on the House Ways and Means Committee, while also acting as Chair of the Montgomery County House Delegation.
