Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.

She grew up in a military family with deep roots in Baltimore and worked various low-wage jobs including dishwasher, parking lot attendant, maid, drywall worker, and waitress before launching her own construction business in 1986 alongside her husband Mark. A former elementary education graduate from Towson University who taught briefly in Baltimore City, she also coached youth sports, taught Sunday school, served as a foster parent, and recently retired after nearly 40 years in general contracting. Her legislative service includes membership on the Health Committee and Rules and Executive Nominations Committee, House Minority Whip from 2013 to 2021, founding member of the Maryland Freedom Caucus, and appointments to multiple joint committees including police reform and marijuana legalization work groups.
