Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.

She currently serves as caucus chair of the Montgomery County Delegation and sits on the Environment and Transportation Committee while also serving as treasurer of the Women Legislators of Maryland. Prior to her election as delegate, she was chair of the Montgomery County Democrats and led a foundation that helped young women fight for workers' rights and social justice. She lives in Potomac with her husband. Foley is co-sponsoring a proposed constitutional amendment on special elections alongside state Sen. Cheryl Kagan.

Bethesda Magazine reports on a proposed constitutional amendment to change the process for filling vacant seats in the Maryland General Assembly, which could come before voters in November. The proposal is sponsored by state Sen. Cheryl Kagan and Del. Linda Foley of Potomac. It would require vacancies to be filled by special election in certain circumstances while preserving the existing appointment process in others.
