Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.
View all candidates in this raceLuke Clippinger is a native Baltimorean who serves as a Delegate representing District 46 in the Maryland General Assembly and chairs the House Judiciary Committee. He grew up in Reservoir Hill where his family were Homesteaders, attended Baltimore City Public Schools through graduation from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1990, earned a BA from Earlham College and a law degree from the University of Louisville before returning to Baltimore. As an Assistant State's Attorney in Anne Arundel County, he prosecutes illegal gun possession and seeks justice for victims of domestic violence, robberies, and burglaries. He is a member of the LGBTQ+ community who stands up against discrimination and has received recognition including the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault Visionary Award in 2015 and the Solar Champion award from the Maryland/DC/Virginia Solar Energy Industries Association.
