Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.

Lehman is a Maryland Delegate representing District 21, serving on the House Environment and Transportation Committee since being elected in 2018 after previously serving two terms on the Prince George's County Council (elected 2010, reelected 2014). She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from the University of Maryland College Park and worked as a journalist covering federal housing, healthcare, social services programs, environmental policy, and Congress for various publishers including CongressDaily. After raising four children, she transitioned to public service roles including education liaison to school boards and PTA's, chief of staff for MD Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk, before winning an open House of Delegates seat in 2018 and being reelected in 2022. She lives in West Laurel with her husband Dale and serves District 21 constituents across both Prince George's and Anne Arundel Counties.
