Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.
View all candidates in this raceMatt Post is a labor lawyer and former student member of the Montgomery County Board of Education running for Maryland House of Delegates in District 14, which encompasses much of northern and eastern Montgomery County. A graduate of Sherwood High School and Yale Law, he has called District 14 home his entire life. On the school board, he championed career pathways education, expanded mental health resources, secured funding for immigrant students, and got votes to close schools for Eid al-Fitr. He also led March For Our Lives's voter turnout program in 2018 and started its legal team defending gun safety measures up to the Supreme Court. Post announced his campaign in September 2026 and joined a slate with incumbent District 14 delegates including state Sen. Craig Zucker, Dels. Anne Kaiser, Bernice Mireku-North, and retiring Del. Pamela Queen.
