Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.

Elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in 2018, she currently serves as Vice Chair of the Environment and Transportation (and Energy) Committee and First Vice-President of the Maryland Legislative Women's Caucus. A Ph.D. holder from Brandeis University with a background in psychology, she previously served on Governor Hogan's Maryland State Board of Education overseeing an annual budget of $8 billion. She is married to Dr. Greg Guyton, an orthopedic surgeon, for 35 years and has three sons who graduated from Baltimore County Public Schools, one currently serving as an officer in the US Army Reserves.
