District 1 covers the Catonsville area of western Baltimore County. His campaign platform centers on affordable housing — including stronger enforcement against bad landlords — improved schools that address the needs of all students, and partnering with and incentivizing small businesses while supporting residents who need assistance. He is running under the slogan "Stronger Together" and has been using small-dollar fundraising as the foundation of his campaign. He is one of three candidates in the Democratic primary for District 1, facing Mandy Remmell, district director for Congressman Johnny Olszewski and the candidate backed by the Catonsville Democratic establishment, and Paul Dongarra, an environmental activist and chef who has qualified for Baltimore County's public campaign financing matching funds program. The seat is open as there is no incumbent running in the newly drawn District 1. The Democratic primary is June 23, 2026.
