A lifelong Pasadena resident, he grew up in Anne Arundel County, graduated from Chesapeake High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law. After law school he clerked for Judge Paul F. Harris, Jr. on the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County before entering private practice, where he concentrates on family law litigation. He previously served on the Anne Arundel County Library Board of Trustees and chaired the Anne Arundel County Republican State Central Committee. He lives in Pasadena with his wife Kristi and their son Luke. First elected in 2018, he has been described by supporters as the most effective and conservative leader on the County Council during his tenure. He has been a consistent critic of County Executive Steuart Pittman's budget proposals and pandemic-era emergency powers, arguing that extending executive authority went beyond the intent of the County Charter. He also advocates for maintaining 287(g) immigration enforcement agreements. He is facing Democratic challenger Rebecca Baucom, a teacher, in the general election on November 3, 2026.
