House of Delegates Member · Legislative District 2B · Maryland · 2026 Primary
Members of the Maryland House of Delegates represent their local districts in the state legislature by proposing, debating, and voting on laws that impact public education, healthcare, and transportation. They work alongside the state Senate to pass Maryland’s annual budget and determine how tax dollars are allocated to community services and infrastructure projects. This office is vital because delegates shape the statewide policies and spending priorities that directly influence the daily lives of all residents.
View all candidates in this raceOcewana E. Baker is a Hagerstown resident and Democratic candidate who filed for election to the Maryland House of Delegates representing Legislative District 2B, which covers the city of Hagerstown in Washington County. She filed for the race in September 2025 and her name will appear on the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary ballot alongside incumbent Matthew J. Schindler. However, Baker has withdrawn from the race. Because she missed the official withdrawal deadline, her name will remain on the primary ballot. District 2B is an open seat following the resignation of Delegate Brooke Grossman in December 2024 after she relocated out of state, with Schindler subsequently appointed to fill the vacancy.
