Paul C. Edwards

Paul C. Edwards is a Grantsville resident and current County Commissioner representing District 2 in Garrett County, seeking re-election in 2026. Born in Cumberland in 1975, Edwards grew up in Grantsville and comes from a family with deep roots in public service — his father, George Edwards, served as a Garrett County Commissioner, Maryland state delegate, and state senator. A 1993 graduate of Northern High School, Edwards earned a Bachelor's degree in social science with honors from Frostburg State University and went on to make his career in public education, teaching social studies and coaching athletics at Northern High School before moving into administration and later serving as Director of Secondary Education, Athletics, and Career and Technology Education for Garrett County Public Schools. He previously served nine years as Mayor of Grantsville, during which he worked to lower taxes, attract new businesses, clean up blighted properties, and secure over two million dollars in grants and low-interest loans for infrastructure improvements. He has served as Chair of the Board of County Commissioners since first being elected to the District 2 seat in 2014 and is a member of the Tri-County Council, the Garrett County Board of Health, and the Local Emergency Planning Board. He and his wife Emily reside in Grantsville.
