View all candidates in this racePaul Gilligan is a Burkittsville resident and Democratic candidate seeking election to the Maryland House of Delegates representing Legislative District 4, which covers most of Frederick County including Middletown, Brunswick, and Walkersville. A Boston native who has lived in Burkittsville since 1985, Gilligan is the owner of P.J. Gilligan Dry Goods and Mercantile Company, a historic general store on Main Street in Burkittsville that dates back to 1821, and is a longtime advocate for historic preservation and farmland conservation in Frederick County. He previously served as Mayor of Burkittsville from 1995 to 1998 and is a member of the Burkittsville Preservation Association. He has previously run for the House of Delegates, including in 2006 and 2010. He is running in the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary alongside Jerry Donald and Andrew Duck, with the top three vote-getters facing Republican incumbents Barrie Ciliberti, April Fleming Miller, and Jesse Pippy in the November 3, 2026 general election.
