Bethesda Magazine reports that Dollahite is a Kensington resident and former court administrator appointed to the role in December 2025 after Joe Griffin's death. He filed to run for the post in the June gubernatorial primary, having been unanimously selected by the Circuit Court judges sitting on the Orphans Court based on his experience and demonstrated ability. Campaign finance reports indicate he received a single donation of $561 from the late register's campaign committee as of February 2026. He is one of three Democrats running against Republican Dolores Reyes in the June primary election.
