A graduate of Bowie State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education summa cum laude in 1978, she went on to earn her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1983 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar. She served as Clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince George's County from April 2001 to December 2006, and has been a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the Prince George's County Bar Association, and the Maryland Circuit Court Clerks' Association. She previously served on the Prince George's County Democratic Central Committee from 1978 to 1982 and on the Executive Committee of the Maryland Democratic Party from 1980 to 1982. She is running in the June 23, 2026 Democratic primary against incumbent Cereta A. Lee, who has served as Register of Wills since 2006, as well as fellow challengers Linda Thornton Thomas, Charnell D. Ferguson, and Desdemona B. Smith.
