Samuel Briskin

Samuel Briskin is a Democratic candidate who filed to run for Washington County Commissioner in 2026 but has since withdrawn from the race after the deadline, meaning his name will still appear on the June 23, 2026 primary ballot despite his withdrawal. A Washington County resident with a background in business management, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Maryland University College and worked at the National Institutes of Health for 37 years, including 23 years as a Senior Grants Management Specialist and three years as a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist. He has also served as a past president of the Maryland Association of Counties and has been active in the Society of Research Administrators International, where he served as president of the Northeast Section. He stated he was running for what would have been a fourth term as county commissioner, with his top priority being the county's fire and rescue operations, particularly the challenge of transitioning from a volunteer to a paid professional fire and rescue staffing model.
