Sarah focuses on lowering costs for Maryland families including revoking price-raising tariffs, expanding affordable child care, reducing student loan burden, building more housing, and rolling back utility rate increases. As a first-time home owner with student loans, she frames these issues as personal rather than abstract.

Immigration

Sarah opposes what she describes as President Trump's weaponization of ICE, fought for oversight and accountability, stood with Howard County blocking a new ICE facility in Elkridge, conducted oversight of the Baltimore ICE holding facility, and refused to fund DHS and ICE.

As a daughter to two civil servants and representative for over 45,000 federal employees plus contractors in the Third District, Sarah introduced and co-sponsored dozens of bills to strengthen protections for hardworking civil servants.

Infrastructure

Following the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse on March 26, 2024, which killed six Marylanders and devastated Baltimore's economy, Sarah works with colleagues to rebuild the bridge, invest in the Port, support affected workers and businesses, and mitigate environmental impact.

We tragically lost six Marylanders who were simply doing their jobs: Alejandro, Dorlian, Maynor, Carlos, Miguel, and José. Baltimore's economic reality also changed instantly. The Port generates 15,300 direct jobs and supports another 140,000 – it's a critical supply chain artery with economic implications far beyond Maryland. Sarah knows we must invest in the Port, support the workers and businesses affected by the collapse, and mitigate the disaster's environmental impact."”

Healthcare

Sarah believes everyone deserves access to affordable, quality health care with a commonsense approach: lower costs, expand access, improve quality of care, and protect science-based decision making. She fought against Medicaid cuts in the Big Ugly Law and Republican attempts to weaken the Affordable Care Act.

Sarah is a champion for reproductive justice, believes health care decisions should be made between patients and doctors not extreme officials or judges. In the Maryland Senate she voted to expand access to reproductive healthcare and co-sponsored a constitutional amendment to enshrine reproductive freedom.
