The County Executive serves as the chief administrator of the county, responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and enforcing laws passed by the County Council. This official proposes the annual budget that directs how local tax dollars are spent on services such as public schools, roads, and emergency response. The County Executive also has the power to appoint department heads and can sign or veto legislation affecting the entire county.

He is running in the June 23, 2026 Republican primary against Harford County Council President Patrick Vincenti, who has served on the County Council since 2014 and as its President since 2018. The winner of the Republican primary will face the Democratic primary winner — either Matthew J. Brown or Barbara Osborn Kreamer, a former state delegate — in the November 3, 2026 general election. Harford County has not elected a Democratic County Executive since 1998, making the Republican primary the decisive contest for the office. Incumbent Republican County Executive Bob Cassilly is not seeking re-election.
